Meet Kat & Michael! We had so much fun planning their bohemian winter wonderland wedding! These two are such a beautiful and incredible couple. I loved getting to know them while coordinating their special day! They were married at the Surf and Sand Resort in Laguna Beach, CA, one of their favorite places to vacation and relax and they wanted to share it with their family and friends. It was the perfect setting for their wedding.
This is one of the most detailed weddings we have ever created: Custom painted backdrops, birchwood arch and centerpieces, snow down the aisle instead of petals, dreamcatcher escort cards, guitar guest book, glitter dipped feathers, tipi lounge area, couples favorite albums for table numbers, dripping crystals throughout the reception, and we made it snow! Pretty awesome! And yes, they are the kindest & sweetest couple EVER !
Q & A with Kat & Michael:
Q: Tell us about the style of your wedding?
A: We always knew we wanted to have a winter wedding, December is our favorite month, so we wanted to go with a winter theme, I’m half Native American and I really wanted to work in my culture it’s a big part of who I am, so that’s how we brought in the woodsy theme, I think birch trees are so beautiful especially against snow. That’s how we came up with the grey and white palette and then of course, my favorite color is purple and purple and grey just go so well together.
Q: What was your favorite part of the ceremony?
A: Michael – The snow. I loved surprising everyone with it. Who makes it snow at the beach? Us.
A: Kat- My favorite part was the group prayer, having our friends and family surrounding us, blessing our new life together as husband and wife, it still gives me chills and brings a tear to my eye.
Q: What was your favorite part of the cocktail hour?
A: I loved the time on the beah Michael and I got together just the two of us (And Bryan, Dave & Mariah) but it was a great opportunity to let it all sink in, and enjoy the beauty of the ocean and the sunset on the beach!
Q: What was your favorite part of the reception?
A: My favorite part of the reception was EVERYTHING! Krystel and the Couture Events team made our dream come true, I loved all the personal touches that really made our wedding OUR wedding. From the Lady and the Tramp cake toppers, to the squirrel, to the teepee there was no denying that this wedding was ALL Kat & Michael.
Kat & Michael both share a love for music! Their music was chosen with great care and they shared with us!
Q: Tell us about your ceremony music?
A: The song I walked down the aisle to is a really cool story, I found this song by Andy Grammer called “I Choose You” and I thought it was absolutely perfect. The problem was the tempo was a little too up beat for me to walk down the aisle to. Luckily, my husband is friends with local artist Trevor Davis, who agreed to do the vocals, and we have a mutual friend Taylor Peckham who is a musical genius who provided the piano track. It was even more special since neither of them could make it to the wedding so it was like having them there in spirit. I cried the first time I heard it, not only because I knew it was the song I would walk down the aisle to, but also because our friends lent us their talents to make it happen. We were so touched.
Q: Tell us about your first dance?
A: Our first dance was “We Both Know” by Gavin DeGraw & Colbie Calliat, we are big fans of Gavin DeGraw and have seen him and Colbie in concert several times. my husband and I are both singer songwriters, and lyrics are very important to us. This song just perfectly described our journey leading up to being husband and wife.
Q: What advice would you give to future couples planning their big day?
A: My advice, hire a planner, let them focus on the “spectacle” of your wedding, so that allows you to focus on what’s really important, marrying the love of your life and celebrating that with your family and friends. Let the planner sweat the small stuff so you can better focus on the big picture, and enjoy your time planning your wedding. I wouldn’t trade our wedding planning experience with Couture Events for anything, because of Krystel we got to enjoy every minute from “Yes!” to “I do.” Save yourself the headache and sleepless nights, hire a wedding planner, better yet, hire Couture Events.

I LOVED everything about Kat & Michael’s wedding! Every little detail was so personalized and custom to them. The dripping crystals, florals, and feathers, the snow in Laguna, the dreamcatcher escort cards, the wintery backdrops- all so BEAUTIFUL! This was definitely one of my favorites.
There are so many things I love about this wedding I don’t know where to start. I am in love with the birch wood arbor during the ceremony. And the glittery aspects like the wall behind the desserts are so fabulous! I’ve never seen confetti thrown before–that made such a wonderful photo op. Everything came together so well.
I LOVE the details and style! The dream catcher escort cards were so creative and the display for them. Such a fabulous job!
I am in LOVE with this!! I would have never thought to combine beach + snow + native american but my oh my did it work! Gorgeous details!!

I am obsessed with this wedding. My jaw is dropped right now. First of all, the couple look so happy! So genuine! Every little aspect is absolutely perfect and all fits together so nicely. I love the winter wonderland, bohemian, Native American theme. The feathers and the glitter are pure bliss. I will definitely revisit this when I am thinking about my own wedding! Thanks for sharing!
I really liked the chic tepee, and rustic log display towers. The little things really tie the atmosphere together!
Where did you get the dreamcatchers from? I would like to order some for my wedding…. Please send me the info and let me know! Thanks!
