TRAVEL: Top 5 Honeymoon Planning Tips

OverwaterVilla_lg

Planning your honeymoon? We had the chance to interview Tracy Cox from Kahala Travel. She gave us her top 5 honeymoon planning trips! We love them all!

Your honeymoon will be the most memorable trip of your lifetime. Your friends, family, children and even grandchildren will ask about it for years to come.  You want it to be incredible!

Here are my top 5 tips to planning your amazing experience:

  1. There is so much information out there and it can be very overwhelming and confusing.  Use a knowledgeable travel agent who specializes in honeymoons.  That way you will be working with someone who is in tune with what is being offered and will use that information to help guide you through the process of planning the perfect honeymoon for YOU.  Everyone has different expectations, desires, needs, etc.  It is important that you work with an agent what will help you navigate all that is “out there” to design your perfect honeymoon.
  2. Talk to your fiancé about what he/she has in mind for the honeymoon.  Do they want to lay on a beach with occasionally having an adventure such as Tahiti or do they prefer a cultural experience such as Europe.  If you have different expectations for the honeymoon a travel consultant can help you combine both such as Thailand where you will experience the culture, ride elephants and still have amazing beaches to relax and enjoy the beauty.
  3. There is no doubt about it, the all-inclusive resorts give you the most bang for your buck.  There are many to choose from in many different areas so it is important that you talk to your travel agent about what you are looking to do so she/he can help you plan the best one for YOU.
  4. As great as the all-inclusive resorts are, don’t be afraid to plan one-of-a-kind experiences.  If you want to really do something “different” than the typical honeymoon experience, do it!  As long as you have a good agent guiding you through the process you will end up with some very unique experiences with stories to tell!
  5.  As fun as it is to be spontaneous, it is a good idea to plan early.  Of course it can be done at the “last minute” but why add to the stress of wedding planning.  Also, last minute pricing can be more expensive, especially when looking at airfare.

Here are a few of my favorite honeymoon destinations for:

  Adventure – Costa Rica

Culture – Europe

Relaxation & beaches– Tahiti

All 3 of the above combined – Thailand

All-inclusive – Sandals

 Value – Palace Resorts

Top 3 Wedding Destinations of 2015

  destination weddings

Do you ever get lost in a fantasy of sipping Peña Coladas on white sand beaches next to your soon to be spouse? If so, I would say you have a case of wanderlust, or an intense desire to travel. Why wait for your honeymoon when you can say your vows with paradise as your venue?

Destination weddings are rare but not extinct! And, with the proper planning and strategy, you can find yourself jet setting to your I-do’s in no time… even on a budget! It all depends on where you go!

So don’t let distance scare you! There are limitless options of places to choose from! In researching, I found that there really isn’t one place that is “the best”. However, there are particular places listed more frequently than others.  The three most popular destination weddings of 2015 seem to be: Greece, Costa Rica and Hawaii. Apparently people are all about dipping their toes into the salt water and catching a few rays of sunshine on their wedding day. So prepare for take off, because you are going to arrive to the top wedding destinations of your dreams.

GREECE

Greece is said to be one of the most desired wedding destinations in the world. With its rich culture and beautiful architecture, it brings you a well-rounded venue. There are plenty of sight seeing options and beautiful beaches to explore. You could have your wedding on the sand, or in a beautiful historic Greek building.  Also it is in Europe, so you can honeymoon all over with the proximity of countries.

COSTA RICA

Costa Rica is a gem offering some of the most magnificent scenery. This is a place for our nature lovers. With ocean, rainforests, waterfalls, volcanoes and exotic animals you will not go a minute without being impressed. Also, this is a location that happens to accommodate weddings quite well and Costa Rica is a more affordable location to travel to compared to some other destinations. So if you are on a budget, but in need of an adventure, you will not be let down by the tropical goodness Costa Rica provides.

HAWAII

I’m sure some of you are thinking a destination wedding would be nice, if you didn’t have to ask your guests to get a passport and go through customs before seeing your ceremony. If so, Hawaii may be the place for you. It is the popular destination wedding for North Americans wanting to travel, without leaving the country.  It is a location rich in Hawaiian culture that is welcoming to tourists with a laid back atmosphere. You and your guests can enjoy a traditional Luau with ukuleles, hula dancing and tikki torches.

Be adventurous and dip your toes into a destination wedding. You know what they say, distance makes the heart grow fonder. Why not profess your love for one another away from home?

We would love to help you plan your special destination wedding!

We walked down the long hallway to check in all the while anticipating was to come, nervous and so excited all at the same time. With butterflies in my stomach I picked out my tote, hat, and got my itinerary! Everything was branded perfectly from start to finish thanks to Gifts for the Good Life !

1. Know Your Worth- In the wedding industry if you have experience, are good at what you do, and create beautiful things- YOU ARE WORTH SOMETHING!

YOU ARE SOMETHING SPECIAL, You have to put up with a lot and you have to make it worth it. It’s time to figure out how much time you spend on each wedding, break  it down and see how much you are making per hour. If you are making less than a Starbucks Barista, maybe it’s time to change your pricing. VALUE YOUR TIME! Because you are worth it!

2. INVEST IN THE BEST TEAM

Work with the best and only the best and you will be THE BEST! Work with people who are better than you at least one aspect of your business. If there is something you have a hard time doing- HIRE SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT WELL! Hero’s are not hero’s on their own, there is a team behind them. Take any great leader- there is a team behind them- a group of people that advised, helped, and made them great. No one can do it alone!

3. REMEMBER WHO YOU WERE BEFORE PEOPLE BROKE YOU DOWN!

Remember back to the person you were when you first started in this industry! You were creative, gifted, and a go-getter. You didn’t let anyone stop you, you didn’t care what they said and now… you have made it and you let others words and judgement get to you. You somewhere a long the way listened to what they said, you need to go back- go back to the person you were, the person who got you to where you are today. You are more than what you have become! Remember who you are!

4. LET IT GO.

If it doesn’t work anymore, even if you have done it that way for years- it’s time to let it go. Let the things that are no longer working go so you can commit to the future and everything that it holds. You have to let go of the past, let it go to LET IT COME. It’s time to look at the future and all of the possibilities that it holds. But you can’t grasp the future until you let go of the past.

5. You don’t want ALL of the business, YOU JUST WANT THE GOOD BUSINESS.

There is enough to go around, you don’t want every wedding! You only want the weddings that are a good fit for you! You want to be excited about your work and creating for the couple. Stop communicating and start CONNECTING. Listen, don’t just hear. The currency of the future is RELATIONSHIPS. Create time to create a relationship with your clients.

6. BE AUTHENTIC.

Brides no longer want to be marketed to they want to see the REAL WEDDINGS, not an ad, and they want to see your work. Luxury brides no longer want a wedding, they want an experience. An authentic, experience where you let yourself be known by them and you get to know them personally as well. Be present, be on call, be quick, be better than the rest.

7. Strive for Perfection EVERY TIME!

Push for perfection and be really happy with the attempt. NO event will run perfectly but this does not mean we do not try. Do all you can to create the perfect event and know that things will happen and when they do make sure you do your best to have solutions ready but know that things are bound to happen and it is ok as long as you did all you could to create and execute the PERFECT EVENT!

8. The Competition Isn’t Always Fair!

There will always be someone who does it for less, there will always be someone that can do it for more, there will always be who has an upper hand, and there will always be an underdog. It’s ok. All you can do is your best! Do what you love, do it well, and be proud of it!

9. It’s EXPENSIVE because it’s EXPENSIVE!

Many clients ask why is it so EXPENSIVE! The answer is because it’s QUALITY, it’s TIME, it’s COSTLY! Creating an event is like making soup- I can make you soup, I can make it with bones & water or I can make it with truffles & steak, which would you prefer?

10. THE BEST OR NOTHING. DREAM BIG!

Give it your heart and soul! Be a leader, be a visionary, go after your dreams. Create beautiful things. Don’t look down, don’t look back, ONLY LOOK UP! Look up and look forward- be the best in your industry. Don’t worry about what others are doing, do all that you can to be an ORIGINATOR!!! Create something that hasn’t been created before and be PROUD of it! Do the work you believe in every single day and it will all be worth it.
