Meet the 2019 Spring Interns

My name is Meghan Ursa. I am a senior at San Diego State University, working towards my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I am a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, and have served as their Chief Operations Officer and Chief Executive Officer. I developed a love for event planning while overseeing the process in my sorority, and I am super excited to be able to learn and experience even more of the process with Couture. In my freetime, I like bake, go for drives along the coast, look for my latest inspiration on Pinterest, and of course, binge the latest Netflix series.

Hello! My name is Lindsey Smith and I am thrilled to be joining the Couture Events family as a Spring 2019 intern! I am currently a Junior at the University of San Diego where I am working towards earning my Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing.

Before moving to sunny San Diego to attend college, I grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in Beaverton, Oregon – just outside of Portland, Oregon. As much as I love the northwest (especially the Dutch Bros. coffee!), I feel very much at home in San Diego and don’t mind trading Oregon rain for the endless southern California sunshine. In my free time, you can find me out exploring San Diego with friends, catching up on the latest episodes of The Bachelor or KUWTK, or getting takeout from J&T’s (a MUST if you love Thai food).

I am extremely passionate about fashion, beauty, photography, and living life to the fullest. From the moment I first discovered Couture Events, I was instantly in awe of the intricacy and detailing that goes into one of their exquisitely executed weddings or events. I am fortunate to work alongside and learn from this group of inspirational and passionate women while getting the opportunity to put my passions and creativity to use this semester!

Nicole and Phil’s Inn at Rancho Santa Fe Wedding

Nicole and Phil are the truly a picture of happiness and love, they are two pieces to a whole for one another. This couple knew without question that they wanted to get married at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, and can we blame them, its just impeccably magical. This venue is filled with beauty and grace around every corner. The ceremony took place under an enchanting tree and awaiting the end of the aisle was a breath taking arbor, covered with lush and alluring white and blush roses from head to toe. The aisle way accented with pillars of flowers and rose petals sprinkled on the ground. The reception was abundant with cream and gold details, with multiple rose gold chandeliers hanging from the reception’s tent. This fun loving couple, spend the evening enjoying each other and their loved ones on the dance, filled with laughter and story telling. They sealed the night with a kiss and watch the stars dance around the night sky.

Destination Wedding vs. Local Wedding

The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe

One of the biggest decisions you will make as a couple is to decide if you want a local or destination wedding. There are so many reasons why you may want to stay in your hometown with an abundant group of friends and family, but you may also enjoy the adventurous and idyllic location of a destination wedding.

Since California is home to us, we wanted to share some of our favorite venues and the pros and cons of a local wedding. If you are from San Diego, The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, is an amazing venue in which you can view first hand to make sure it is everything you want for your wedding day! One of the best things about a local wedding is that you can do walk throughs which allows you to then have better control of your wedding planning.

Parker Palm Springs

Another favorite venue of ours is the Parker Hotel in Palm Springs. For those couples that want a large guest list, we have discovered that more people will attend when there is a wedding hosted locally rather than at a destination.

Fairmont San Francisco

Hosting a local wedding is ultimately up to the bride and groom. There are so many benefits to having a local wedding but it is important to remember that being in California, does not mean it is always sunny. The weather will play an important role in this decision. The Fairmont in San Francisco, allows you to have the wedding you always dreamed of inside their magical venue safe from any weather concern.

Ritz Paris

Destination weddings are really popular by most couples because you are able to create a wedding experience that is so unique anywhere you choose. You and all your guests can feel like they are all on vacation. One of the most unforgettable venues at the Ritz in Paris, France is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get all of your closest friends and family to join you. This venue and all of Paris is the most perfect wedding package. You are able to celebrate love days later in the most romantic city in the world.

Venice Wedding Castles

Venice, Italy is one of the most elegant cities that is the perfect location for your destination wedding. There are castles, old vineyards, and rustic villas to choose from for your venue. This breathtaking city has everything you need to create a memorable wedding. One of the best things about having a destination wedding is that you are also on your dream honeymoon. Since your closest family and friends will be with you, always remember to take time with your new spouse and spend time seeing the city as a new married couple. It might not be a bad idea to arrive a few days before the rest of your guests get there to enjoy and spend some time alone.

Esperanza Cabo San Lucas

The most important thing we can suggest for the bride and groom is to stay relaxed and let everyone else do the work for you. Sometimes with a destination wedding there are flight delays, and troubles with traveling amongst your guests. We want you to enjoy your wedding and who can have a bad time in Cabo San Lucas. This destination location offers the most amazing beach views. Aire will be opening this fall and is the perfect venue in which you will exchange vows looking out onto the ocean. You will be able to enjoy your time on the sandy shores of Mexico and have a wedding you’ll never forget.
